The Lands of Targus
The Alliance, savaged during the Great War, retreated to the now massive cities floating adrift in the skies of Targus. Once old and discontinued mines hollowed out to fuel the forges of the world, these barren rocks are now filled with a diverse populations of the Free Peoples. These terrestrial territories were forced to solve many of the problems that sky living presented, including lifeless rocks, the Alliance relies on vat grown food stuffs, known as aquaponic tanks, or Tankies to feed and clothe their crowded populations. Dominated by industrial politics and trade pacts, the Alliance relies heavily on enterprising Captains and crushing corporate monopolies to maintain fiscal and military control over thin resources that would quickly be squandered by a generally uneducated labour class ruled by an elite.

The World that is.
The world is not a safe place, things bred from the birthing chambers were let loose, food stocks for the crew, training and exercise, things of tooth and talons. Yet while the original crew of the ship did indeed fight and devour and rip and tear, some things hid, they burrowed and slept, bred and fought in the dark places, the under-places, the inner hidden places, and so nature is as ever a proven to be a harsh mistress and evolution took place. Today the world is a harsh and bitter place, many look at the floating islands and seek refuge in the floating land masses, others huddle in armoured and fortified enclaves. Travel is often seen as moving from one fort to another, or a secure place. Many a Nation state has knights and armed forces to help keep their lands safe..
Yet safety is an illusion.
MAL HOME LANDS
Mals, Landians, Dark Dwarves.
The Mals live in the deep north on the ice tundras, and blasted heaths. A nation stranded to die many decades ago as punishment for their involvement in the War of the Gods.
They took to the Skies making war and spreading strife as they went. These are an embittered nation out for revenge. The colours of the Mal war ships are the Red, Blacks and Greys. Colours significant to their time in exile and views of the world.
The Mal are located at the top of the northern hemisphere in Targus. A land that including the Deadlands and blasted heaths covers 47% of the planet’s habitual surface. The
In the lands, winters are long and summers are cut short. During the winter temperatures are usually well below freezing and the ground covered with snow and ice. Summers are marshy from puddles called thermokarsts formed of melted snow and ice. Several major rivers and water ways flows into and through this land. It is also some of the more interesting landscape where Pingoes are formed from pools of water freezing under the ground, pushing the ground up into a hill. Some pingoes are 3 to 300 feet tall and a half mile wide. These are often used as defensible places for residencies.
The climate in the Targus Tundra deadlands in the winter is exceptionally cold. The temperature may reach -40 degrees Fahrenheit. Summers are cool with temperatures of 37 degrees to 52 degrees Fahrenheit. Precipitation is only 7 to 11 inches per year including melted snow.
The tundra is very windy. It has winds from 30 to 60 miles per hour, higher if a Mal Storm chases through, some claim up to twice that of a normal storm. The wind-chill is so bad in the tundra, bare skin can freeze in 30 seconds. Such hazards are a daily occurrence for the Mal.
Alliance Home lands
The Alliance was savaged during the Great War, with many retreating to the now massive cities floating adrift in the skies of Targus. Once old and discontinued mines, these hollowed out wrecks striiped to fuel the forges of the world, these barren rocks are now filled with a diverse population of the Free Peoples.
These terrestrial territories were forced to solve many of the problems that sky living presented, including lifeless rocks, water conservation, power harnessing, recycling, food growth to name just a few. As with anything the Alliance does it does it with great cunning and social engineering.
The Alliance relies on vat grown food stuffs, known as aquaponic tanks, or Tankies to feed and clothe their crowded populations.
Dominated by industrial politics and trade pacts, the Alliance relies heavily on enterprising Captains and crushing corporate monopolies to maintain fiscal and military control over thin resources that would quickly be squandered by a generally uneducated labour class ruled by an elite. The vicious militaristic controls, tight profit margins and deep corporate intrigue make the Alliance a truly dangerous force.
Valdia Homelands of Valdians
Valdians, Landians, Free Peoples, Dwarves.
Founded during the end days of the Second Gods War, the Orders Head of State, Valdius himself. Valdian’s represents the ideal of honour, integrity and military prowess, and are considered legendary; some of the greatest victories of the Great War attributed to Valdian heroism and sacrifice.
The Valdian fleet is ancient, with powerful war machines that repulsed the aberrant hordes of Malack during the darkest hours of humanity. Theirs are the only true warships ever made by Steelbius’s very hands, though most of the original vessels, to the great shame of all Valdians, are long lost.
Through clever engineering and careful adherence to doctrine they have recreated many of the ancient ships using still serving models as templates.
Determined and stalwart, the Valdian consider themselves the perfect counterbalance to their Landian siblings, ‘Children of the Martyr’
Valandians favour the open skies, and far ranging freedoms which they offer, this is why many find service on Alliance ships at one time or another during their lifetimes. While many Valdians grudgingly accept this as a necessity to global trade and a recognized balance to power, they cannot fault their ability to sail a craft.
The Valdian civilization can seem quaint, slow and backwards, compared to the productive might of the Alliance. However despite its power the Alliance can neither wrest control of the vast tracts of rich farmed Valdian lands nor openly compete militarily with Valdian’s ancient war machines and rigid Knightly Orders
Homelands of Mercenaries
Merc, foreign Nationals
The Medics and Mercenary families and sleets call the Spice Hills home. Over Half of their nation are still medical doctors or classed as Combat Medics, Doctors and Surgeons and the other half consists of competent medical trained combat orientated Mercenaries.
The spice Lands are a strange mix of floating Islands which offer a diverse range of habitats in certain places, like mountain tops, deserts, and tropical forests, and is determined by the climate of the place, ranging from the higher alpine biones, to Rainforest like to taiga.
This has lead to a diverse and rich plant, insect and animal biosphere which furnishes the medical community of the Mercenary nation with a rich tapestry of information in which they obtain new and diverse medicines and medical information.
The range and varying heights of the Spice Hills makes it both a diverse cultural place and a constant hazard to ships, with a person being able to walk between varying types of biones, from the high Alpine ranges to the more Taiga like biones before dropping into the lush rain forested Islands.
